Welcome to Class 3's Weekly Summary.

Week 8

What a fantastic last week of our first half term we have had! Lets look at what we have been learning.

Maths

This week in maths we’ve been focusing on adding two-digit numbers together. Children have explored this concept using a variety of hands-on resources to build a strong understanding. Once confident, they moved on to solving problems independently. We’ve also had some great discussions about what the addition symbol means and how it can be represented in different ways.

English

In English this week, we’ve been working on our independent writing, focusing on Florence Nightingale. The children have used all their history learning to help them write a biography about her life, exploring why she is considered such a heroic figure. They’ve shown fantastic knowledge and enthusiasm, confidently sharing key facts and linking them to the biography features we’ve been learning about. Can the children tell you any key facts about Florence, that link to our biography symbols

Science

This week in Science, we explored what makes a healthy, balanced plate of food. Using our knowledge of nutrition and the food groups, the children designed their own healthy plates, thinking carefully about what our bodies need to stay strong and well.

It was a fun and engaging activity, and the children impressed us with their understanding and thoughtful choices. A big thank you to everyone who completed the food diary at home, it made a huge difference and really helped the children apply their learning in a meaningful way!

Forest School

This week was our first trip down to forest school of the year! We had such a fun time. We thought of our favourite things and we created them into a picutre. We uses sticks for the picture frames and we used different nature items to create the picture. There were some fabulous ideas. We can wait for our next session down there.

Spelling

This week we have been focusing on learning words where 'wr' makes a /r/ sound at the beginning of words. The children then wrote sentnaces with the words 'wrestle', 'wrapped' and 'wrote'. They did a fantastic job and blew me away!
